Cacao: A Venezuelan Lament

Choreography and Direction: Victoria Mata

Multi-disciplinary performance taking place during an euphoric celebration pivotal to Venezuela’s African-heritage and preparation of cacao-harvest season. As two cousins reunite, they grapple with increasing threats to traditional farming practices, neocolonial processes of land exploitation and the global chocolate trade.

Through 6 unscripted duets centred around ‘conversations about the state of the world', heart2heart offers a compassionate dance theatre work that questions how we seek to build relationships across difference, across sameness and across generation. heart2heart features an ensemble of queer, POC, fat, multilingual, non-binary, differently abled, mothers, teachers, immigrants and all Torontonians.​
